From Roommates to Soulmates

It all started in 2018, thanks to a mutual friend who introduced us—and the connection was instant. We quickly became inseparable: running errands together, battling it out in video games, grabbing Wingstop (our go-to meal), and taking long walks with Einstein, Alejandro’s fluffy white husky. We could talk for hours about anything without judgment—and we knew right away that we were going to be the best of friends.

Oh, and did we mention we were roommates? It was basically a real-life New Girl situation.

Then came 2020—a global pandemic and a lot of time locked indoors together. That year, Ari moved out into her own apartment in Downtown San Jose, but distance didn’t change a thing. We still saw each other constantly, had movie nights, ordered way too much DoorDash, and stayed just as close.

Later that year, our little pack grew—Ari got Maya, a lovable black lab, and Einstein gained a best friend too. We started meeting up even more for dog walks and before we knew it, we were spending the holidays with each other’s families. That’s when the “So… are you two going to get together?” questions started rolling in.

On January 17, 2021, after a family party, he asked the first big question: “Will you be my girlfriend?” It was an instant, joyful yes.

From 2021 to 2024, we’ve shared a beautiful journey. We’ve moved in together, went to Disneyland (multiple times), Cancun, and have taken spontaneous road trips. Through every adventure, big or small, we’ve remained each other’s best friend—the one person we can always count on for a laugh, a hug, or an extra Wingstop fry.

Then came New Year’s Eve 2024. Wanting a quiet celebration, Ari surprised Alejandro with a staycation at the historic Hayes Mansion. It was just the two of us—and Maya. No big plans, no big crowds. Alejandro had always said, “It’s going to happen this year… just let it be organic,” so Ari patiently waited, not expecting anything but a cozy night in. But just before midnight, at 10 p.m. during a walk around the quiet grounds of the mansion, Alejandro turned to Ari and asked the next big question: “Will you marry me?”

Once again, it was an immediate, tearful yes.

Now here we are, ready to celebrate this next chapter with all of you. Thank you for being part of our story—we can’t wait to begin forever together.
